SUMMARY:First Consular Camp in Lyon – A Community Milestone 🇮🇳
DESCRIPTION:On 15th March 2025\, the Indian Embassy in Paris\, with support from L’Association Frehindi\, successfully organized Lyon’s first-ever Consular Camp at Novotel Centre Confluence. This landmark initiative brought essential services—such as passport renewals\, OCI applications\, and document attestations—directly to the Indian diaspora in the region\, eliminating the need for a costly and time-consuming trip to Paris. Over 70 individuals benefitted from this one-day camp. \n  \n \n  \nL’association Frehindi\, led by President\, Mr. Haru Mehra\, played a key role in supporting the smooth execution and mobility of the event by coordinating logistics and mobilizing over 15 trained volunteers. The trained team of th  e volunteers ensured seamless operations from 10 AM to 5 PM\, with extended service hours to accommodate last-minute attendees. The event concluded with a heartfelt group photo and inspiring message of unity from Mr. Karjee and a group photo celebrating the collaborative spirit. Students and teachers from varied schools from India & abroad joined in with their families and friends to experience this live spectacle. \n \nFête des lumières ( Festival of Lights) is a popular event that originally aimed at expressing gratitude toward Mary\, mother of Jesus around December 8 of each year. Origins of the festival date back to 1643 when Lyon was struck by bubonic plague. The municipal councilors pay tribute to Mary when the town was spared. Ever since this unique Lyonnaise tradition suggests that every house place candles along the outsides of all the windows to produce a spectacular effect throughout the streets. \n  \nHappy Reading! \n  \nOur next virtual tour will be for Fête de la Musique.
